The story of a socially awkward underdog

Day 12 — Whatever tickles your fancy

Hmm. I fancy doing chores that don't involve the handling of raw meat

I'm fine with ironing, doing the dishes, hanging up the laundry, but I've always drawn the line at tasks that involve coming into physical contact with raw meat.

Well, things changed today.

My mom wanted to go swimming for awhile so she instructed my sister and I to do some dinner prep. I ended up getting the job of... slicing the raw chicken cutlets.

Of course I didn't want to, but somehow I gave in, with much reluctance.

Actually, it wasn't so bad. Except that I nearly got frostbite. The chicken was still freezing cold. And it was slimy and smelly and all. And a little tough to cut. Other than that, I think I managed alright.

Before seasoning

It was a tedious and painful process, but I finally got the job done! Looks pretty gross huh.

After seasoning

But then came my favourite part - the seasoning! I sprinkled the chicken with ground black peppercorn, basil, rosemary, some sort of flavoured salt my mom told me to use, a little bit of soy sauce and some turmeric powder. Then it was seared in the pan until golden brown. Deeelicious.
